Outcast's Loneliness

Sadly, it is true that an outcast exists within all worlds--even those of written word and imagination. Its a melancholic thought that is most befitting this illuration. Typically in melancholic illustrations, darker tones and sharper shading techniques are used to capture the overall tone of the picture; you have not only managed to reverse this common practice, but have also done it successfully! I absolutely adore this illustration; the elements you put into it are so interesting. An owl is a solitary creature by nature and is regarded as the animal of wisdom, so to see such a creature here, protrayed not as an ancient being, but as a creature subject to something as simple as loneliness is refreshing. I like that you included a pocket watch in this picture because it does help to convey the owl's feeling; time ticks by ever so slowly when you are alone. The same can be said about the plant growing; life is fleeting and the owl must feel somewhat numb upon seeing a plant bloom and die repeatedly. Overall, this is just an amazing piece! A job well done!!
